The Grave of the Nine Men

The men’s grave can be found in St. Michael’s Churchyard, Madeley near the end of the path which runs down the side of and behind the church.

In 2003 the grave was restored by Madeley Parish (now Town) Council supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The work of restoration was undertaken by local firm Eura Conservation and a plaque giving details of the tragedy was set up next to the grave. A service of rededication was carried out by the Vicar of Madeley, Reverend Henry Morris on Wednesday, 1st October 2003, the 139th anniversary of the men’s funeral.
